Wholesale Solutions Underwriter – Excess & Surplus
AXA XL is seeking a dynamic Wholesale Solutions Underwriter to join our Excess and Surplus (E&S) business unit.
The role focuses on driving growth, managing profitability, and building strong broker relationships across our North American portfolio. Responsibilities
Execute the strategic plan for the assigned region, prioritizing growth goals and profitability. Manage an existing portfolio of E&S Casualty business, ensuring the attainment of underwriting targets. Develop and launch new E&S products based on market needs and underwriting experience. Communicate underwriting appetite and market positioning to brokers, creating visibility and new opportunities. Work independently, leveraging granted underwriting authority to price and place risks. Collaborate with core line teams to cross‑sell and build integrated solutions. Provide superior service to clients to support a positive company image. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience. Moderate experience in E&S General Liability and/or Excess underwriting. Strong existing broker relationships within the territory and experience in a production underwriting role. Proficient underwriting skills across general classes, able to manage a high‑volume portfolio. Self‑starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Critical thinking, decision making, and problem‑solving abilities. Willingness to mentor peers and contribute to a fast‑paced, team‑centric environment. Estimated 20% travel. What We Offer
