Position Overview
Store Manager Trainee at United Dairy Farmers is a dynamic Guest Services specialist. The primary responsibility is to deliver outstanding service to every Guest by following the five phases of The Hi Five Guest Experience (Invited, Welcomed, Well-Served, Respected, Fulfilled). The role ensures safe and efficient store operation, maintains excellent store conditions, and meets all legal and company policy requirements.
Training Program This is a multiple-month training program designed to become a Store Manager. The program includes hands‑on leadership, financial reporting, inventory control, and guest service excellence.
Schedule & Reporting Full time: minimum 45 hours per week; minimum 5 shifts per week; must schedule one 2nd or 3rd shift per week; must work at least 2 weekends per month. Position reports to Zone Manager and Zone Trainer.
Core Responsibilities
Directing Associates
– monitor daily activities, provide associate counseling, coach guest experience, recommend promotions and separations, ensure compliance with all company policies and state/federal laws, investigate and resolve associate complaints.
Store Staffing
– recruit, interview, perform reference checks, schedule associates, assign job duties, train associates individually and through group meetings.
Financial Reporting
– prepare, analyze, and transmit store operating results; prepare daily bank deposits following the company funds handling policy; monitor competitive pricing and merchandising and recommend responsive action.
Inventory Control
– maintain adequate product levels, accurately record sales and vendor transactions, analyze end‑of‑day reports, and prepare special reports or analysis as requested by upper management.
Guest Services
– provide the signature UDF Hi Five Guest Experience; greet guests warmly, ensure store readiness, anticipate needs, and ensure each guest leaves satisfied.
DipSide Guest Services
– prepare shakes, milts, ice cream cones, sundaes, sodas, and hand‑packed containers.
Point‑of‑Sale & Gas Console
– properly authorize and control gas sales, register all transactions, handle coins, checks, credit cards, and coupons, and make accurate change.
Stocking Merchandise
– keep shelves, displays, milk boxes, freezers, and dip cabinet presentable; manage coffee pots, ice dispensers, and product rotation.
Security
– maintain guest awareness to minimize shop‑lifting and gas drive‑offs; control cash levels using proper drop procedures and follow Tobacco/Alcohol Management and Robbery/Violence Deterrence programs.
Maintenance
– keep store and parking lot safe, clean, and organized; maintain equipment cleanliness and monitor temperature controls.
Reporting
– accurately complete time records and the Customer First Document.
Other Duties
– perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to speak, hear, and understand spoken English well enough to communicate effectively with customers.
Ability to see well enough to operate store equipment, including POS terminal and gas console, and to use a price book.
Ability to understand operating instructions for store equipment and to operate all store equipment.
Ability to prepare DipSide items using supplies located in the dip cabinets.
Ability to handle coins, currency, checks, credit transactions, coupons, and food stamps, recognize denominations, and accurately make change.
Ability to recognize numbers, count, and do arithmetic well enough to complete required records.
Ability to move merchandise from storage to shelves, displays, freezers, milk box, and place for proper display.
Ability to clean counters and other surfaces.
Ability to tolerate exposure to temperatures as low as –30 degrees Fahrenheit for at least 2 minutes.
Ability to tolerate exposure to temperatures as high as +33 degrees Fahrenheit for at least 10 minutes.
Ability to raise at least 10 pounds from floor level to a height of 5 feet.
Ability to place an 8” x 10” x 10” package weighing 21 pounds into a dip cabinet, the top of which is 3 feet above the floor.
