Active Directory Engineer – Charlotte, NC – 12‑Month Contract
Outstanding long‑term contract opportunity with a well‑known financial services company. This role is a 12‑month contract (potential extension) in a large‑scale, highly regulated environment.
Role Overview Design, deploy, expand, and secure Active Directory environments across complex enterprise infrastructures. Deep expertise in AD architecture, design, and engineering is required.
Key Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and manage Active Directory infrastructure in enterprise‑scale, regulated environments.
Set up and manage domain controllers, forests, trusts, and replication across environments.
Implement and manage Group Policy Objects (GPOs), authentication mechanisms (Kerberos, NTLM), and directory security.
Develop and maintain automation solutions with PowerShell scripting for AD management and reporting.
Partner with security and infrastructure teams to ensure identity and access management (IAM) controls are in place.
Troubleshoot and resolve escalated Active Directory issues impacting availability, performance, or security.
Provide thought leadership and guidance on AD best practices, monitoring, and future enhancements.
Required Qualifications
8+ years of experience with Active Directory engineering in enterprise or financial services environments.
Proven experience designing and building AD (not just administration of users/groups).
Strong knowledge of domain controllers, forests, trusts, GPOs, Kerberos authentication, and AD security principles.
Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation, monitoring, and reporting.
Demonstrated experience in large, highly regulated industries (financial services, healthcare, etc.).
Preferred Skills
Experience working across multiple regions/sites in distributed environments.
Familiarity with IAM frameworks, identity security, and integration with other enterprise systems.
Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent communication skills for working with technical and business stakeholders.
