Manufacturing Engineer- ON SITE 5 days a week in Fairborn, OH
A leading engineering services firm supporting top-tier clients across aerospace, defense, and automotive sectors is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join its growing team. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with process optimization, supporting a range of advanced manufacturing and product development initiatives.
Position Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer will serve as a key subject matter expert on engineering and production processes across multiple programs. This individual will help define, implement, and improve manufacturing strategies while driving innovation in automation, advanced manufacturing, and digital transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement advanced manufacturing processes and solutions to support aerospace and defense programs.
- Drive automation techniques, process improvements, and system testing to optimize production capabilities.
- Perform and review DFMEA and PFMEA to assess and mitigate design and process risks.
- Analyze production processes, methods, and schedules to forecast and improve manufacturing requirements.
- Interface with suppliers to lead APQP activities including PFMEA, control plans, and PPAP submissions.
- Contribute to technical execution around Industry 4.0, Digital Factory, Model-Based Enterprise, and Additive Manufacturing initiatives.
- Document and present technical data, analyses, and process improvement recommendations.
- Review manufacturing instructions and procedures to identify opportunities for increased efficiency.
- Develop strategy documentation outlining process improvements and implementation plans.
- Provide mentorship to junior engineers and coordinate project activities in alignment with leadership.
- Monitor project progress, manage deliverables, and ensure adherence to schedules and quality standards.
- Collaborate effectively with internal and client teams to deliver measurable results.
Required Qualifications
- MUST HAVE- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Strong understanding of GD&T, PPAP (up to Level 5), and APQP principles.
- Hands‑on experience with assembly and testing of machined, forged, or fabricated components.
- Knowledge of design for manufacturing, assembly, reliability, and cost optimization.
- Proficiency in managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage both technical and business stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel up to 50%, depending on client needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience leading engineering teams or projects.
- Exposure to additive manufacturing and electronics production.
- LEAN, Six Sigma, or other process improvement certifications.
- Familiarity with project planning tools such as MS Project or equivalent.
