POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for the design, fabrication, and implementation of new and existing products, tooling, and processes in a manufacturing environment. Provide technical support to increase efficiency and decrease waste using the principles of lean manufacturing and continual improvement. WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be willing and able to work in an environment exposed to elements that can include but are not limited to coolant, dust, mist, elevated noise, and uncontrolled temperatures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Conduct high priority or time sensitive manufacturing and business process projects to ensure successful implementation
  • Using analytical thinking and creativity, provide engineering support across the organization to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems
  • Develop, evaluate, improve, and document manufacturing processes with targeted results of reduced waste and cost, improved safety and ergonomics, and increased throughput
  • Direct cross functional teams in the preparation and execution of Kaizen events and lean initiative projects
  • Design and coordinate the fabrication of tooling and racking for different departments
  • Assist production and other engineering support groups in developing, building, or testing new product prototypes or procedures
  • Recommend and implement methods for improving efficiency via reorganization of workflow, relocation of workstations, and equipment upgrades
  • Analyze and create facility layouts, cost justifications, process flow charts, value stream maps, line balance documents, and standard work to determine efficient utilization of production personnel and equipment
  • Prepare production documents such as standard operating procedures, manufacturing batch records, inventory reports, and productivity reports
  • Generate and review dashboards within PowerBI, Excel, SQL, and Access to aid in and support continuous improvement efforts
  • Develop an understanding of the Bill of Material and Change Order processes to meet departmental cross-training requirements
  • Administer and track the performance of a successful 6S program
  • Develop and provide Lean and Continuous Improvement training, such as LEADZ, as well as assist the Operational Trainer in the development and administration of an effective training program
  • Ability to stop the production line and/or prevent shipment of products due to nonconformance or potential nonconformance products to our customers
  • Support the environmental policy with proactive process implementation, improvement suggestions, reducing waste, and acting on environment performance results and findings
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Ability to read and comprehend work instructions, blueprints, plant layoust, and control plans
  • Familiarity with measuring tools and manufacturing equipment

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or Industrial Technology required

Experience: Two years of previous work in manufacturing or engineering environment preferred

Computer Skills: Must demonstrate computer literacy; Proficient using Microsoft Office and CAD software
