This opportunity is in the Information Technology department.

As the company’s largest department, I.T. is responsible for supporting both ongoing operations and our next innovative project. Role Description Imagine leading a high‑performing team of engineers building modern, cloud‑native applications that power a premier specialty insurance provider. As the Senior Manager of Software Engineering at Safety National, you’ll guide full‑stack development teams using .NET Core, Azure services, and NoSQL technologies to deliver scalable, secure, and user‑centric solutions. You'll play a pivotal role in modernizing legacy platforms, driving 12‑factor app design, and aligning business priorities with technical strategies. You'll collaborate closely with product owners, architects, and infrastructure teams to deliver enterprise‑scale solutions while instilling best practices in clean code, automation, and observability. Education A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required. A master’s degree is preferred.

Required Qualifications

Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future

This position allows for a hybrid work schedule which includes a minimum of 3 days per week in our St. Louis Corporate Office, located at 1832 Schuetz Rd. Saint Louis, MO. All employees are required to submit work from home requests and follow our Work From Home policy, which will be provided to all candidates selected to interview.

7 or more years of software development experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role

Strong hands‑on experience building enterprise‑grade applications using .NET Core/C#

Expertise in Microsoft Azure, including App Services, Azure Functions, and Azure Cosmos DB

Solid background in NoSQL and relational database technologies

Deep understanding of 12‑factor app principles and scalable design patterns

Experience designing RESTful APIs and building distributed systems

Proficiency in modern CI/CD practices and tools

Strong skills in observability (metrics, logging, tracing)

Excellent collaboration, communication, and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes

Experience with domain‑driven design (DDD) and microservices architecture

Exposure to front‑end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js

Understanding of secure coding practices and compliance in regulated environments

Experience working in a DevOps environment

Safety National is committed to fair, transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive, market‑based compensation. In our vision to be First with Co‑Workers, compensation is only one piece of the comprehensive total rewards package we offer. The target base salary range for this position is $113,000 to $148,000. Compensation for the successful candidate will consider the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, experience and geographic location.
