Staff Attorney – Show Low & Ft. Apache Offices
Southern Arizona Legal Aid, Inc. is hiring a staff attorney to serve its White Mountain Legal Services Office in Show Low, Arizona and its White Mountain Apache Legal Services Office in Fort Apache, Arizona. The program serves nine counties in Arizona and eleven Indian Reservations. The Show Low office services Navajo, Apache, and Gila Counties; the Fort Apache office serves Apache County.
Travel to other communities in Navajo, Gila and Apache counties may be required.
Responsibilities Represent low‑income communities in general civil practice matters. Collaborate with community groups, tribal court advocate and support staff. Provide legal services to Navajo, Apache and Gila Counties and Apache County.
Minimum Requirements
Member or eligible for admission to the Arizona Bar; applicants licensed 2 years in another jurisdiction may practice by special rule.
0 to 5 years of experience.
High degree of sensitivity to low‑income community problems; initiative, good communication skills and ability to work in a multicolour setting.
Knowledgeable in general civil practice on behalf of the low‑income community.
Compensation Salary range $58,656 – $101,915 DOE. Up to five percent additional compensation to individuals fluent in Spanish. Payment of bar exam and admission fees for those not yet admitted. Student loan repayment assistance. Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) eligibility. Excellent benefits package including health, disability, and pension plan. Thirty‑five‑hour workweeks and generous leave provisions. Up to $3,000 relocation support.
