Senior Technical Recruiter at Gotham Technology Group Our Hedge Fund client is looking to hire a Senior Network Engineer, with a strong focus on Palo Alto. This role is critical in maintaining and supporting their trading environments. This role offers a solid base salary and fantastic bonus potential!
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and support a global multi-vendor trading network with a heavy focus on security and performance.
Lead ownership of Palo Alto NGFW environments
— architect, configure, and enforce advanced security policies, VPN tunnels, NAT, segmentation, and threat prevention for global trading operations.
Lead greenfield buildouts of colocation and proximity datacenters, ensuring resiliency, performance, and compliance.
Manage multicast market data feeds across global exchanges and provide direct support to algorithmic trading teams.
Support and optimize PTP/NTP timing infrastructure critical to trading environments.
Develop automation scripts using Python/Ansible to increase operational efficiency.
Configure and maintain F5 LTM/GTM for IP traffic management and DNS load balancing.
Troubleshoot complex network and firewall issues using tcpdump, Wireshark, and other packet analysis tools.
Collaborate with stakeholders to align network priorities with trading strategies.
Maintain detailed network documentation, enhance monitoring, and provide 24x7 on-call support.
Plan global circuit capacity to ensure scalability and performance.
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in engineering, implementing, and maintaining enterprise or trading networks.
BS/MS in Computer Science, Networking, Cybersecurity, or related IT field.
Deep expertise in routing and multicast protocols (BGP, OSPF, PIM, IGMP) and associated best practices.
Proven hands‑on experience designing, securing, and managing Palo Alto NGFW platforms in high‑performance trading or enterprise environments.
Experience with Arista and Cisco Catalyst/Nexus switching, plus F5 LTM/GTM load balancers.
Strong troubleshooting skills across LAN, WAN, multicast, and firewall environments.
Experience with colocation datacenter build processes (power, cooling, cross‑connects); Equinix exposure preferred.
Practical knowledge of PTP timing architectures for trading.
Experience with cloud networking (AWS preferred).
Proficiency with Linux networking tools (ethtool, tcpdump) and automation (Python, Ansible).
Familiarity with firewall policy administration, VPN, and NAT (with Palo Alto preferred as primary).
Excellent communication and documentation skills; ability to work closely with traders and stakeholders.
Expert‑level certifications (CCIE, JNCIE, or Palo Alto PCNSE/PCSNE) highly desired.
