Need Locals to VA - Sr. Network Engineer
Client is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer (Sr NE) to implement and provide support to the agency’s IT Network infrastructure. The Sr NE performs day-to-day activities related to the support, documentation, research, analysis, and implementation of Client Network related infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Considerable knowledge and working experience with enterprise routers, switches, VPN concentrators, firewalls, wireless access points, and load balancers (document, set up, configure, upgrade, manage, troubleshoot).
Diagnose and resolve network infrastructure issues using line monitors, diagnostic software, and test equipment.
Collaborate with agency’s IT infrastructure suppliers and stakeholders to gather requirements, specifications, and configurations to assure accuracy and up‑to‑date status.
Assist in troubleshooting and resolving network issues impacting application performance and uptime.
Oversee installation, documentation, and upgrades of various agency facility data network infrastructure.
Collaborate with cloud and DevSecOps teams to optimize hybrid connectivity and SDWAN configurations.
Document network architecture, topology diagrams, IP schemes, firewall rules, and access controls as required.
Work independently on assigned projects.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Minimum 8+ years of hands‑on experience designing, installing, and troubleshooting local‑area and wide‑area enterprise networks.
Industry standard networking certification (e.g., Cisco CCNA, Juniper JNCIA‑Junos).
Proficiency with ARP, CDP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, VTP, Etherchannel, HSRP, QoS, multicast, IPsec, RADIUS/TACACS+, SNMP, MPLS.
Experience with SDWAN (3+ years preferred) and cloud networking (3+ years preferred).
Experience monitoring IT environments for compliance with information security, architecture policies, and standards.
Experience creating repeatable, reliable, scalable network architectures with fault tolerance, performance tuning, monitoring systems, statistics/metrics collection, and disaster recovery.
Experience creating network diagrams using industry standard tools such as Visio.
