What You’ll Be Doing
Define and drive the BNATCS automation architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with enterprise engineering and integration objectives.
Lead design and implementation of automation solutions across infrastructure, application deployment, monitoring, and configuration management.
Evaluate and integrate modern automation tools, frameworks, and practices (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Python scripting, Kubernetes, Docker).
Partner with engineering and operations teams to identify automation opportunities that reduce manual effort, increase reliability, and improve scalability.
Develop automation standards, reusable templates, and documentation to ensure consistency and maintainability across program environments.
Serve as the lead technical advisor for automation-related initiatives, guiding design reviews, technical assessments, and implementation planning.
Collaborate with cybersecurity and network engineering to ensure automation aligns with compliance and security controls.
Mentor engineering teams in automation best practices, tool utilization, and process integration.
Support ongoing innovation and continuous improvement through technology evaluation and proof-of-concept efforts.
Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (Master’s preferred).
10+ years of experience in systems engineering or IT automation, including 5+ years in a senior or lead architect capacity.
Proven experience designing and implementing automation in large-scale, distributed, or mission-critical environments.
Expertise with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools and automation frameworks such as Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, or similar.
Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash).
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud or virtualized environments.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver complex automation initiatives.
Desired Skills
Experience supporting FAA, defense, or federal engineering programs.
Knowledge of systems integration within secure or classified environments.
Background in DevSecOps implementation and automated compliance validation.
Familiarity with monitoring and observability toolchains (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).

Salary Range Salary Range: $144,800.00 - $260,600.00
