Overview
Accounting analysts, often referred to simply as accountants, perform a wide array of administrative tasks that allow businesses to keep track of expenses and forecast future performance. Their primary duties involve preparing and examining financial reports, with an eye on accuracy and compliance. These reports include income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements and capital statements. Depending on their level of education and years of experience, accounting analysts may also be asked for recommendations to help reduce costs, enhance revenue streams and increase profit margins. The Accounting Analyst prepares and maintains financial records, statements, and reports for assigned companies; analyzes and interprets accounting records; researches complex accounting issues and errors providing solutions; prepares various internal management and external regulatory reports as assigned; works on special projects, overseeing and acting as liaison with other functions on assigned projects.
Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with other accounting officers within organization
Utilize math skills to analyze key financial data
Prepare financial reports on a determined schedule
Present financial reports and estimates to decision makers within the organization
Utilize technical skills to create charts and graphs for visual understanding
Research current economic and financial outlook
Provide solutions to accounting issues as they arise
Investigate and provide feedback on accounting irregularities
Prepare the monthly financial statements for a select number of properties in our growing portfolio
Conduct variance analyses to provide thoughtful insights to the Asset Management team
Execute monthly financial close process by taking ownership of tasks including preparation of manual journal entries, pre-paid schedules, billing/invoicing, fee calculations, and account reconciliations
Manage financial technology to ensure financial operations and systems seamlessly integrate
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or related fields preferred.
