Seton College Overview Seton College is a new two-year college division of UMSV that will offer an associate's degree for 100 historically underserved students who may require additional academic support and who are motivated for post-secondary success beginning in the 2024‑25 academic year.

Program goal: Prepare students to enroll in a bachelor's degree program or to begin their professional careers. Students will study at the Riverdale Campus of UMSV and have full access to UMSV facilities and programs.

The position is open until filled. Applications submitted by November 7, 2025 will be given priority.

Course Description (SPAN)

SPAN 101-102: Introductory Spanish – foundation language skills, oral communication, cultural introduction.

SPAN 202: Intensive beginner‑intermediate review course.

SPAN 223: Heritage speaker course – grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, culture.

Responsibilities

Teach 3–6 credits in area of expertise using evidence‑based practices that support first‑generation student success.

Provide students with an up‑to‑date syllabus, clear course expectations, and an engaging, inclusive classroom environment.

Collaborate with colleagues in teaching community and participate in professional development.

Maintain regular on‑campus office hours to support and advise students.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in the subject area required; doctorate preferred.

Demonstrated enthusiasm for undergraduate teaching and use of active‑learning pedagogy.

Commitment to engaging students beyond the classroom experience.

Willingness to continuously improve teaching practices and collaborate within a learning community.

Strong commitment to serving a diverse student population, including underserved, minority, and first‑generation college students.

Student‑centered philosophy aligned with the mission of the University of Mount Saint Vincent to educate the whole person.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentation skills.

Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.

Proactive and creative approach to problem‑solving.

Experience working with HEOP students is highly encouraged.

Benefits Salary: $1,000 per credit.
