The
S
enior Revenue Financial Analyst and Team Lead (A/R)
is responsible for analyzing and optimizing a healthcare organization's revenue cycle processes by reviewing financial data, identifying areas for improvement, and developing strategies to maximize revenue while ensuring compliance with regulations, often collaborating with various departments within the revenue cycle team to implement changes and monitor their effectiveness. They will also supervise Senior Revenue Financial Analysts and Revenue Financial Analysts.
Responsibilities
Supervise Senior Revenue Financial Analysts and Revenue Financial Analysts
Responsible for maintaining both contractual and bad debt rates for assigned payers including, but not limited to, forecasting changes in payer rates, expected vs actual variance review, identification of variance, communication, and resolution of variances
Extract and analyze large volumes of revenue cycle data from various systems to identify trends, variances, and potential areas for revenue improvement, including patient demographics, billing codes, claims status, and payment patterns
Create detailed reports and dashboards to present key performance indicators (KPIs) related to revenue cycle performance, such as denial rates, days sales outstanding (DSO), and collection efficiency, to relevant stakeholders
Analyze and synthesize complex information to identify key issues, develop clear summaries, and define actionable next steps; collaborate across teams to ensure alignment, drive resolution, and maintain momentum on strategic initiatives
Lead and manage revenue cycle optimization projects, including data collection, analysis, and implementation of new strategies
Identify inefficiencies in the revenue cycle process, such as charge capture, coding accuracy, claims submission, and payment posting, and proposing solutions to streamline operations and minimize revenue leakage
Ensure adherence to healthcare regulations and coding guidelines related to billing practices to avoid potential compliance issues
Work closely with other departments within the revenue cycle team, including billing, coding, patient financial services, and registration to implement process improvements and address identified issues
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required; CPA preferred
A minimum of eight (8) years of accounting/finance experience in financial analysis or revenue cycle management required. Experience must include:
Significant experience with data warehouses, BI tools, SQL server, ERP and analysis services required
Demonstrated expertise in financial reporting, data analysis, revenue recognition, and accounts receivable management required
Experience in healthcare revenue cycle organizations and billing systems strongly preferred
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Access, Word, Excel, Outlook, and general working knowledge of Internet for business use; demonstrated ability to learn new accounting and billing software systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work on multiple tasks without sacrificing quality, attention to detail, and ability to interact with staff at all levels (and auditors) required
