Senior HR Specialist – FSU – Tallahassee, FL

Responsibilities
Administer the University’s pre‑tax and post‑tax benefit plans (health, life, supplemental) ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines.
Lead counseling of employees on benefit eligibility, coverage, and cost; complete enrollment forms and coordinate with benefit vendors.
Serve as liaison between FSU, PeopleFirst, and vendors; manage enrollment and insurance changes.
Coordinate and review payroll queries and PeopleFirst reports to maintain accurate deductions and compliance.
Assist the Assistant Director with planning of the Benefits and Wellness Fair, Open Enrollment sessions, and special projects such as benefits planning seminars and new faculty orientation.
Provide cross‑training assistance to support the Retirement team.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and four years of human resources experience, or a high school diploma/equivalency and eight years of comparable experience.
Knowledge of HR principles, practices, and standards for benefits administration.
Excellent customer service skills and the ability to provide subject matter expertise and counseling.
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Oracle PeopleSoft.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
Supervisory experience, including training and employee development.
Effective process evaluation and improvement skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with benefit administration in PeopleFirst.
Previous supervisory experience, including the ability to train employees and develop employees.
Ability to utilize problem solving skills and perform accurately in a detail‑oriented environment.
Effective process evaluation and improvement skills.
