Catawba Hospital in Catawba, VA has an exciting opportunity for a Psychiatrist interested in joining a dynamic, collaborative medical staff. Catawba Hospital is a 110-bed, Joint Commission accredited, Commonwealth of Virginia operated psychiatric hospital. Interdisciplinary teamwork is valued in this progressive hospital service adult, geriatric and forensic patients. We are seeking a BE/BC Psychiatrist with strong leadership skills and clinical experience as well as commitment to recovery principles. Academic affiliation exists with Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine Residency Program and teaching medical staff have academic faculty appointment. No call required however is available if desired as a Medical Officer of the Day. Catawba Hospital provides funding for psychiatrists to attend formal forensic training at the Institute of Law Psychiatry, and Public Policy and the University of Virginia. In addition, the Office of Medical Services ensures ongoing educational opportunities. Total compensation, including a robust state employee benefits package will be valued over $360,000.00 Moving and Relocation Reimbursement Sign-On Bonus, Loan Repayment and Tuition Forgiveness programs 12 paid holidays Annual, sick and family and personal leave Paid short term and long term disability after 12 months of employment Health, dental and life insurance with a generous contribution from the state keeping premiums affordable Enrollment in the Virginia Retirement System with state match Malpractice covered by the Commonwealth of Virginia CME Allowance Possibility of on grounds housing in a relaxed rural setting Minimum Qualifications
Board Certified/Board Eligible Psychiatrist Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree and completion of an accredited/approved psychiatry residency training program Current DEA Registration (Required) Some knowledge and/or experience in substance abuse treatment desired Clinical Experience in forensic psychiatry desired Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology is highly desirable but not required Comprehensive knowledge of best practices inpatient psychiatry, strong clinical skills, and good interpersonal skills Additional Considerations
Considerable knowledge and/or experience in psychopharmacology desired Some knowledge and/or experience in substance abuse treatment desired Experience with an acute, adult inpatient population is preferred Special Instructions
