Senior Director
to lead
strategic communications
efforts across our growing client portfolio. This role is ideal for an experienced communicator with strong roots in Republican politics and deep relationships in the media ecosystem. The Senior Director will help LSG’s clients – particularly those in highly regulated sectors – shape public narratives, manage complex media environments, and achieve measurable reputational impact. This is a hybrid role based in our downtown DC office Monday-Thursday, with remote work available on Fridays. The position requires periodic travel to support client engagements and events. Responsibilities
Media Strategy & Execution Lead media relations strategy for clients navigating policy, regulatory, and reputational challenges. Cultivate and leverage relationships with media outlets, producers, editors, journalists, and influencers across the political spectrum. Secure impactful earned media placements and shape narratives that resonate with priority audiences. Provide counsel and rapid response support during high-profile or politically sensitive media moments. Develop and pitch op-eds, thought leadership pieces, and interviews to advance client goals. Client Leadership
Serve as a senior advisor to clients. Translate complex policy, corporate, and advocacy priorities into compelling media strategies. Deliver integrated campaigns in coordination with digital, grassroots, and policy teams. Maintain high client satisfaction by anticipating needs, managing expectations, and producing tangible results. Team & Business Development
Manage and mentor early career professionals to ensure strong execution and professional growth. Contribute to LSG’s media service offerings by developing best practices and operational innovations. Support business development through proposal writing, pitching, and identifying new opportunities. Experience & Qualifications
8-12 years of experience in communications, media relations, political strategy, or public affairs. Background on Capitol Hill in Republican communications roles (e.g., communications director, press secretary, or senior press staff). Demonstrated success securing coverage with leading outlets and building relationships with journalists. Deep understanding of the political and policy landscape, including Congress, White House, and agencies. Experience advising clients in high-profile, fast-moving environments. Proven ability to manage teams, lead accounts, and deliver results across complex campaigns. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, with an ability to craft sharp, persuasive messaging. Familiarity with advocacy, public affairs, or policy campaigns. Required Competencies
Expert knowledge of national and conservative media, including broadcast, print, digital, and emerging outlets. Ability to design and execute proactive earned media strategies in politically charged environments. Strong judgment and crisis communications experience. Proven leadership in mentoring staff and developing high-performing teams. Project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple client accounts simultaneously. Personal Attributes
