This is an individual contributor role that will over time lead a team of data analysts and scientists, offering a unique opportunity to shape and lead the future of AI-powered decision‑making across Market Access functions while supporting one of the most innovative pipelines in the pharmaceutical industry.
We are looking for a proven leader with a strong track record of designing and executing transformative AI/ML strategies—including emerging areas such as Generative AI and Agentic AI frameworks. This individual will bring deep domain expertise across at least two core pillars of U.S. Market Access, such as Pricing & Contracting, Trade & Distribution, Gross‑to‑Net Management, Chargebacks, Rebates & Discounts, and Market Access Strategy. As a senior leader within the D&A COE, the Director will work cross‑functionally with senior executives across USMA, Commercial, and Enterprise functions to align data‑driven insights with strategic business priorities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and execute a data & analytics capability that enables scalable insights across in‑line brands and pipeline assets aligning with US Market Access business priorities to drive business results and transform patient outcomes.
Manage direct reports with responsibilities in Data Enablement, Data Governance, and Advanced Analytics.
Oversee Data Enablement to establish a common data foundation of analytics‑ready data products, ensuring seamless integration across multiple data domains.
Lead Data Governance to implement a data governance framework, driving data discipline, integrity, security, and compliance.
Build a strong team over time to enable real‑time insights through AI‑driven models, self‑service analytics, and predictive intelligence to generate pipeline value narratives for market shaping.
Elevate analytics with Advanced ML, implementing multi‑level analytical models to accurately attribute 340B vs. non‑340B dispenses, stop 340B revenue leakage, using isolation forests for anomaly detection.
Drive new KPIs and continuous performance monitoring in post‑deal analytics to identify opportunities for pull‑through effectiveness.
Foster a data‑driven culture by leading enterprise‑wide data literacy and training initiatives, empowering Payer Field teams, Trade & Distribution, Pricing & Contracting teams to leverage AI/ML‑powered insights.
Lead change management efforts to embed Gen AI‑enhanced data & analytics capabilities into strategic decision‑making, ensuring agility and scalability including an intelligent knowledge hub with conversational agent interfaces.
Partner with Digital Technology & Engineering (DTE), GIACO, HEOR, and DSS to create a seamless AI‑powered data ecosystem.
Monitor emerging technologies, trends, and best practices to ensure continuous innovation in ML, Generative AI, and analytics‑driven decision‑making.
Serve as an advocate and develop strong partnerships in integrating market access insights across the Vertex enterprise.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline required (e.g., Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Finance).
10+ years of experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industries in Managed Markets or in biopharma consulting post‑MBA/PhD.
7+ years of experience developing insights that inform value, access, reimbursement, and contracting strategies.
Proficiency in D&A with deep expertise in evolving U.S. Market Access strategies and payer account management.
Demonstrated experience with syndicated Market Access databases (IQVIA, MMIT) and shipment data (852, 867, Integrichain).
Strong analytical capabilities with expertise in data analysis tools (Excel, SQL, SAS, Alteryx, PowerBI) and working knowledge of R, Python, and Snowflake.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with presentation skills to C‑suite and external stakeholders.
Flexible, adaptable, diplomatic, and effectively deal with ambiguity.
Ability to partner and communicate with senior leadership to support financial forecasting and analytics or commercial launch planning.
Strong storytelling skills with the ability to distill complex information into concise, impactful messages.
Preferred Qualifications
PhD or MBA/MPH in combination with a Master’s in a quantitative discipline.
Good understanding of state/federal policies, government programs impacting market access, and statutory government pricing methodologies.
8‑10 years of pharmaceutical manufacturer market access experience with Health Plans, PBMs, Hospital Systems, Specialty Pharmacies, and Healthcare Policy stakeholders.
