Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized MEP Superintendent to oversee the field execution of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing scopes on a large-scale data center construction project in Claude, TX. This role is critical to ensuring project milestones, safety, quality, and commissioning readiness are met across all MEP trades in a mission-critical environment. The ideal candidate brings proven field leadership in managing subcontractors, coordinating inspections, and supporting integrated systems testing on fast-track, high-uptime facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Field Leadership & Coordination: Lead day-to-day field coordination of MEP trades including electrical, mechanical (HVAC), plumbing, and fire protection subcontractors. Ensure installation aligns with project schedule, construction documents, and design intent, proactively identifying and resolving field conflicts. Conduct daily jobsite walks to monitor safety compliance, construction progress, and quality workmanship. Interface with general contractor, design engineers, commissioning agents, and owner representatives to track readiness milestones and ensure alignment on field priorities.
MEP Execution Oversight: Review and manage MEP look-ahead schedules, manpower loading, and material deliveries to ensure critical path activities are supported. Oversee installation of mission-critical systems including backup generators, UPS systems, PDUs, chilled water and condenser systems, CRACs/CRAHs, and associated controls. Coordinate with BIM/VDC teams to resolve installation conflicts and verify constructability in the field. Monitor MEP startup and commissioning activities; support integration of electrical and mechanical systems during testing phases.
Quality, Safety & Documentation: Enforce project-specific safety protocols and OSHA compliance within MEP scopes. Review and validate field installation against contract documents, submittals, and specifications. Support QA/QC efforts by tracking inspections, participating in pre-functional checklists, and leading MEP punchlist walks. Maintain daily reports, photo documentation, and field notes to track progress and identify issues.
Commissioning & Turnover: Collaborate with commissioning teams to support pre-functional testing, equipment startup, load bank testing, and integrated systems testing (IST). Ensure MEP systems are turned over with accurate as-builts, redlines, and O&M documentation. Drive resolution of commissioning punch items and facilitate smooth transition to owner operations teams.
Qualifications: 510 years of superintendent or field leadership experience in data center, mission-critical, or large-scale commercial MEP construction. Deep understanding of electrical and mechanical systems used in high-availability environments (UPS, switchgear, chillers, generators, etc.). Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, SMACNA, etc.). Experience managing MEP scopes on projects with aggressive schedules and complex commissioning requirements. Proficiency with construction technology tools including Procore, Bluebeam, BIM 360, MS Project, or equivalent. Excellent communication, field coordination, and problem-solving skills.
