Overview
Our client is currently seeking a
Purchasing Agent
to work in office in Bergen County, NJ. This individual will be responsible for procuring materials, equipment, and services for construction projects by sourcing, negotiating, and managing suppliers to ensure cost-effectiveness, timely delivery, and adherence to project budgets and schedules.

Responsibilities Serve as the primary point of contact for all purchasing and procurement activities. Review and process purchase order requests submitted by management. Source and evaluate suppliers, obtaining competitive bids and quotes for materials, equipment, and services. Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to secure the best value for the company. Issue, track and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project budgets and cost codes. Monitor and track inventory, delivery schedules, and vendor performance to avoid project delays. Manage supplier relationships, resolving issues related to quality, delivery, or pricing. Collaborate with project management and accounting teams to align purchasing with budgets and project specifications. Perform cost analysis to identify savings opportunities and support value engineering. Ensure all purchasing activities comply with policies, project specifications, and industry standards. Maintain vendor files and purchasing log. Familiar with AIA forms Monitor and manage open purchase orders Supporting Accounts Payable Assist with administrative duties including communicating and answering inquiries from vendors or customers. General office duties.
Qualifications Proven experience in purchasing, procurement, or buying (Construction industry strongly preferred) Strong negotiation and contract management skills Familiarity with construction budgets, materials, cost codes, and project documentation. Excellent communication, organization, and follow-up skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
