Faculty members educate Walden University students by effectively using online technology and resources so that knowledge, information, feedback, and critique are imparted to and shared with students in thoughtful, carefully formulated, well written, and timely communications. Faculty are required to grade assignments, participate in discussions, respond to student emails, use technology designed to enhance the learning experience. This is accomplished in an environment that is respectful of the student, the faculty member, Walden University, and the discipline. TRAINING
All new faculty members receive training in online teaching techniques, use of an electronic learning platform, policies and programs of the School or College, socialization into Walden culture, assessment of academic integrity, and research supervision of theses and dissertations. Teaching and mentorship assignments depend on successful completion of training. During the first term, a faculty peer mentor may be assigned to support instruction and provide peer reviews. COURSE / TEACHING AVAILABILITY
Faculty are assigned courses taught in Canvas and interact with students within Canvas. Discussion boards are open 24/7. Faculty are expected to be in the classroom a minimum of 4 days per week and responses to student questions must be posted within 48 hours. Regular availability such as online office hours or online chats is expected; office hours may be required by policy. Qualifications

Faculty Members must be appropriately credentialed, hold an earned degree in the discipline, and may be licensed or license-eligible to teach in specific programs. Maintain licenses and certifications as required. Keep current with research by reviewing articles and presentations. If participating in research, may publish and acknowledge Walden University. All NP faculty must obtain and maintain RN and APRN licensure in Minnesota and provide evidence of current Advanced Practice certification prior to hire. A multi-state compact license and licenses in AZ, WA, NV, AK, and OK are preferred but not required. This position may be eligible for bonus on hire. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Earned Doctorate (DNP or PhD) preferred. A record of professional scholarly contributions to their field. A minimum of one year’s experience of teaching in higher education. Current clinical experience in NP practice. A minimum 2 years\' experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) in primary care preferred. Teaching experience, online teaching preferred but not required Commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of students in distance education. Contributing faculty may travel to university events and residencies. Core faculty may require travel throughout the year. WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a standard office environment with possible moderate noise. Requires use of a computer for 6–8 hours daily and physical activities typical of an office setting. TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS
Faculty members should have a personal computer with virus protection and Internet access. Walden provides a Walden email account and access to the learning platform, and other faculty communications tools. Software requirements include a current Web browser, Microsoft Office, Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash Player, Apple QuickTime, Windows Media Player, antivirus software installed and kept current. Compensation overview: The expected compensation rate for this position is as follows: Graduate Course Instruction: 1560 - 4080 per quarter/semester; Undergraduate Course Instruction: 700 - 2200 per quarter.
