Position Summary The Senior Instructional Designer is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of system-wide annual regulatory and compliance training required for all employees, regardless of role. This includes e-learning design, instructional design, content development, and instructor-led training. The role involves close collaboration with subject matter experts (SMEs) and other stakeholders to ensure training content is up-to-date with industry regulations, organizational policies, and applicable laws. Strong project management skills are essential, including stakeholder coordination, version control, and ongoing maintenance to ensure timely and compliant rollout each year.
Responsibilities
E-Learning Design: Analyze storyboards and other documentation and make recommendations for proper interactive and development strategies.
Design and develop self-paced trainings using sound instructional design principles.
Develop and program AICC and/or SCORM compliant HTML/HTML5 based e-learning using industry leading authoring tools such as Articulate 360.
Work with and create custom graphics in tools like Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.
Instructional Design: Identify appropriate instructional strategies, instructional technologies and best practices, research and make recommendations on educational best practices, instructional resources and technologies, and multimedia/software to support teaching and learning, and keep abreast of new learning software applications and technical knowledge.
Content Development: Consult with SMEs on learning objectives and content through curriculum development sessions, documents findings, and writes reports; develop course materials in various formats including print, graphics, audio, video, animation and multimedia to make courses dynamic, visually appealing, and interactive; recommend appropriate assessment techniques.
Project Management: Lead planning, coordination, and execution of large-scale, annual mandatory education training, manage complex project timelines with multiple concurrent deliverables, own stakeholder engagement, implement rigorous version control and documentation processes, establish and maintain project dashboards, continuously refine project workflows and templates, partner and collaborate with training vendors and manage vendor relationships.
Instructor–led Training: Train SMEs in technology tools and e-learning instructional design methods; deliver selected technology related instructor led training and participate in TDL learning programs; other duties as required.
Qualifications Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in related field required. Master’s degree preferred. Applicable work experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements.
Experience Requirements:
5+ years of design and development experience, focused on e-learning formats.
Graphic Design, LMS and e-learning authoring.
Proficiency using Articulate 360 course creation platform.
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite.
Basic audio- and video-editing capabilities.
Basic knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, XML, SharePoint.

Compensation Mount Sinai Health System provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency. The salary range for this role is $87,692 - $131,538 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
