Appointment Type : Contract (annual renewal)



Hours : 8 hrs/day, 5 days/week, hybrid schedule



Pay Range : $116,000 – $224,200 (annual full pay range). Annual full pay range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position; the university may prorate if appointment percentage less than 100%.

Description Under the direction of the Managing Senior Executive Director of Development, Health Sciences Advancement, the Philanthropic Officer will secure major gifts ($100,000 and above) for priorities identified by Health Sciences leadership. The officer will craft and implement solicitation strategies, cultivate relationships with Surgery faculty and staff, manage a donor portfolio through identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, and communicate confidential information with sensitivity. The officer will collaborate with colleagues in Health Sciences Advancement and University Development, partner closely with the Surgery Chair and Administrative Vice Chair, serve on committees and task forces, and represent the department in fundraising events.

Qualifications

Expert knowledge of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts and techniques.

Demonstrated success at raising major gifts for individuals, corporations, and foundations ($100,000+).

Experience across the full spectrum of development, including policies, solicitation, stewardship, recognition, board relations, and administration.

Expert written and interpersonal communication skills and political acumen.

Expert organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills; project and program management experience.

Expert level skills in maintaining confidentiality.

Demonstrated experience in institutional fundraising or equivalent experience.

Strong organizational, managerial, mentoring, and leadership skills.

Proven success as a direct-line fundraiser in a sophisticated donor-centered environment.

Demonstrated interpersonal and team-building skills and a commitment to equal opportunity and diversity.

Experience developing budgets and using financial information for comprehensive budgetary reports.

Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

A Pay Transparency Act Annual full pay range: $116,000 – $224,200. Hourly equivalent: $55.56 – $107.38.
