We’re seeking an experienced
Senior System Protection Engineer
to join a growing team supporting
high-voltage substation
projects,
renewable energy interconnections , and
data center power infrastructure .
In this role, you’ll guide a team of engineers and technical staff, acting as the primary technical interface with clients and internal teams. You’ll ensure that designs, deliverables, and project execution meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations.
Location:
Houston, Dallas, or Austin, with a hybrid working schedule.
What You’ll Do:
Lead and perform protection setting calculations and relay coordination for substations up to 500 kV.
Develop and review protective relay settings, logic diagrams, and relay configuration files.
Apply best practices to safeguard transformers, breakers, buses, transmission lines, and distribution feeders.
Conduct power system modeling and coordination studies using tools like
ASPEN OneLiner, Siemens CAPE, ETAP, SKM, or CYME .
Support construction, commissioning, QA/QC, and project execution across multiple offices.
Provide technical guidance during project bidding and design phases.
What We’re Looking For:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; PE license preferred.
8+ years of experience developing protection settings for transmission substations.
Strong understanding of
FERC/NERC reliability standards .
Proficiency with power system analysis and relay coordination software.
