Base Pay Range
$35.00/hr - $55.00/hr About the Role
We are seeking a skilled drone operator to capture high-quality aerial imagery and data across the Greater Los Angeles area (with possible ability to travel within the US). This is a hands‑on, hourly position (part‑ to full‑time) focused on executing flight missions, collecting quality data, and ensuring safe, compliant operations. Key Responsibilities
Conduct drone flights to collect imagery and sensor data per mission specifications. Perform pre‑flight inspections and equipment checks. Execute flight plans safely and efficiently in various environments. Ensure data quality and completeness before leaving field sites. Maintain flight logs and mission documentation. Coordinate with internal teams on scheduling and data delivery. Use and debug commercial off‑the‑shelf (COTS) drone and imaging software to ensure smooth operations. Manage FAA Part 107 waiver applications (e.g., altitude waivers) as needed. Perform basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. Adapt to changing weather conditions and mission requirements. 1+ years hands‑on drone operation experience. Required:
Demonstrated ability to capture high‑quality aerial imagery. Required:
Experience using and troubleshooting COTS drone and imaging software. Required:
Familiarity with FAA Part 107 waiver procedures and application process. Required:
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Required:
Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Required:
Comfortable with basic technology and file management. Required:
Experience flying mid‑to‑large drone platforms (35 lbs+). Required:
Experience with custom UAV payload integration, such as instrument selection, mechanical mounts, and software triggering. Required:
Familiarity with PX4, ArduPilot, or open‑source mission control systems. Required:
Understanding of frame rate, flight automation, and ability to coordinate flight plans with custom sensor parameters. Preferred:
Background in mapping, surveying, or geospatial data collection. Preferred:
Familiarity with mission planning software. Preferred:
Experience in commercial or industrial drone operations. Preferred:
Ability to travel occasionally within the US for imaging missions. Location
Greater Los Angeles area. Must be available for fieldwork throughout LA County and surrounding regions. Some early morning or weekend work may be required based on mission needs. Compensation
