Program Overview The Defense group supports the Department of Defense (DoD) mission to keep our homeland and its citizens safe. We provide solutions to improve the Nation's defense by providing software, systems engineering, IT, training and logistics and fleet management solutions.

About The Role We are seeking a DevSecOps Engineer to support the Peraton Team in San Diego, CA. Peraton provides engineering services including architecture, software development, cybersecurity engineering, test & integration planning, integration, fielding, quality assurance, documentation, and sustainment support of various Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC PAC) software applications and initiatives including the Program Executive Office for Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (PEOC4I) Storefront (STFNT)/AA. This effort includes systems engineering, software development, and sustainment of these systems to allow their users to access, manipulate, and display relevant data for the users' mission.

What you'll do

Design and implement innovative technologies for automating, integrating, and delivering containerized web applications and services for the Department of Defense (DoD)

Day‑to‑day efforts include working with highly talented professionals and subject matter experts to design, implement, and sustain mission‑critical software systems that provide U.S. Navy warfighters with the tools and resources for successfully planning and executing missions

Use containers (e.g., Docker, Rancher) and orchestration configurations (e.g., Helm, OpenShift) to deploy software using microservice architecture to support Navy DevSecOps initiatives

Develop security‑hardened container images to comply with operational DoD compliance

Create automated Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to streamline daily software development operations

Qualifications What you will need:

Note: Must live in the San Diego metro area.

Education & Certification:

BS in STEM (or equivalent) with 2 years of experience; or HS Diploma with 6 years of relevant experience

CompTIA Security+ Certified (or able to obtain within 30 days)

Citizenship & Clearance:

Candidate must be a U.S. citizen

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance at the Secret level

Experience: Demonstrated 2+ years of DevSecOps experience with

Containerization (i.e., Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Rancher)

Container orchestration tools (i.e., Kubernetes, OpenShift, Helm)

Infrastructure‑as‑Code (i.e., Ansible, Vagrant, Terraform, CloudFormation)

CI/CD automation tools (i.e., GitLab, Jenkins, AWS Code Build, Azure Pipelines)

Linux operating systems (i.e., RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)

Automation and Scripting (i.e., Bash, Python, PowerShell)

Cyber security practices (i.e., Active Directory, HBSS)

Working in headless RHEL environments

Desired qualifications:

Security Clearance: Currently holds an active Secret clearance

Tools:

Data pipeline tools (i.e., Apache NiFi, Kafka, Databricks, MinIO)

Cyber security tools (i.e., OpenSCAP, Snyk, JFrog Xray, Anchore)

Secret management tools such as HashiCorp Vault

Experience:

Cloud computing infrastructure or development (i.e., AWS, Microsoft Azure)

Full‑stack software development (i.e., Java, .NET, JavaScript, SQL)

Utilizing Atlassian suite or equivalent (i.e., JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket)

Test automation frameworks (i.e., Selenium, Cypress)

Configuring OIDC and OAuth applications

Target Salary Range: $80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
