Base pay range $150,000.00/yr - $165,000.00/yr

What You’ll Do Do you excel at turning data into strategic insights that shape business growth? As the Manager, Competitive Intelligence, you will lead Kirkland & Ellis’ firmwide Competitive Intelligence (CI) team, which provides critical market knowledge to drive new business initiatives forward.

Lead firmwide CI operations – Direct the day-to-day management of the Competitive Intelligence group, ensuring seamless delivery of research services.

Oversee strategic research projects – Manage time-sensitive requests and large-scale initiatives, including company profiles, relationship analyses, biographical dossiers, and competitive metrics.

Guide and develop talent – Supervise and mentor CI team members, conducting performance reviews and supporting professional development.

Drive insight generation – Cultivate a deep understanding of Kirkland’s clientele and practice groups while staying ahead of industry trends and best practices in competitive intelligence.

Collaborate across functions – Partner with attorneys, Marketing, and Business Development colleagues to provide actionable intelligence that supports client development and business growth.

Ensure quality and standards – Maintain high data and research standards, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and relevance in all outputs.

Adapt to evolving priorities – Manage shifting requests and emerging needs, balancing long-term projects with urgent assignments.

What You’ll Bring

Bachelor’s degree required with master’s degree preferred, with 7+ years of competitive intelligence experience in a law firm or corporate environment.

Team leadership – Proven ability to manage and develop a professional staff.

Collaboration & communication – Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively at all organizational levels, with excellent verbal and written communication.

Analytical expertise – Exceptional research, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Professional qualities – A proactive, self-starter mindset with strong organizational, time management, and planning skills; ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.

Technical proficiency – Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and market intelligence/legal research platforms (Westlaw, Bloomberg Law, BoardEx, S&P Capital IQ, Preqin, The Deal Pipeline, Pitchbook, Mergermarket). Experience with CRM/database software such as InterAction or Salesforce is a plus.

Compensation The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position in Chicago.
