Senior Account Supervisor, FinTech Communications
Edelman Smithfield is a global financial communications firm that specializes in financial markets and strategic situations. We are seeking a Senior Account Supervisor to develop and execute communications programs for a portfolio of clients at the intersection of finance and technology.
Responsibilities
Lead the creation of communications plans and goals, including development of both tactical and strategic elements
Proven ability to lead large projects and teams on sizable accounts
Create, drive and execute strategic media relations programs
Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of clients’ businesses and missions, and impart this knowledge to account team members
Set client program goals and manage against them
Excellent written and verbal communications skills; delegate tactical assignments and edit work of others
Serve as daily client contact and client lead
Oversee quality and operational performance of accounts, ensuring work quality and deadline/budget adherence
Supervise staff by motivating, coaching, providing feedback, holding them accountable, and conducting reviews
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Business, Journalism, Public Policy, Communications, or a related field
Minimum of 6+ years of relevant experience in strategic communications, including agency or in‑house communications roles
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in an agency environment
Experience providing strategic communications counsel to fintech companies, payments providers, and/or established financial institutions navigating digital transformation
Proven ability to help companies communicate effectively with financial, business, and broader stakeholder audiences
Demonstrated media relations experience, including existing relationships with top‑tier business, financial, and/or technology journalists
Experience managing high‑intensity corporate assignments such as transactions, crises, and reputation‑building initiatives
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to develop strategic messaging and thought leadership content
Strong project management skills, with a proactive, detail‑oriented, and results‑driven mindset
Ability to work effectively in fast‑paced, high‑pressure environments, managing multiple priorities simultaneously
Compensation $108,000 - $138,000 a year plus a comprehensive benefits package that may include annual bonuses, a paid time off policy, and region‑specific benefits.
