Base pay range $280,000.00/yr - $320,000.00/yr
Head of Engineering
Hybrid 3-4x a week in NYC or Austin
Base $280k - $320k + equity
FutureTech Recruitment is partnered with a high-growth, a16z-backed Series B FinTech building the infrastructure that powers modern consumer credit and payments. Their platform enables embedded payments, real-time account insights, lending workflows, and streamlined checkout for leading financial products. The company has seen rapid revenue growth and significant expansion in its user base over the past year, and is now preparing to scale further with enterprise clients.
They’re now hiring a Head of Engineering to lead the next phase of growth, scaling the team, systems, and culture to support enterprise customers while maintaining quality, compliance, and reliability.
Responsibilities
Scale the engineering org to support multi-vertical growth across lending and new product lines
Build and mentor a high-performing team, raising standards while maintaining velocity
Drive the transition of core products from current state to enterprise-grade, eliminating reliability issues and ensuring trust at scale
Collaborate seamlessly with product, GTM, and partnerships to align engineering priorities with business outcomes
Ensure uptime, compliance, and SLA obligations are consistently met as the customer base expands
Requirements
8+ years of software engineering experience, including leadership roles at scaling startups or enterprise-grade SaaS/FinTechs
Proven track record scaling teams from 10 → 30+ engineers, structuring pods/squads to preserve speed as scope expands
Strong technical acumen: comfortable leading architecture discussions, reviewing code, and enforcing engineering best practices
Experience balancing speed with compliance, reliability, and enterprise-level SLA requirements
Servant-leader style with credibility among ICs and cross-functional teams
