Senior Enterprise Data Architect Location:

Job Summary We are seeking a Senior Enterprise Data Architect to join our team on a contract basis. This role is pivotal in setting and modernizing technology for data and analytics, developing enterprise-wide logical data models, and creating incremental value through data products and evolving data solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT, with 6-12 years of experience, and will be responsible for driving the data architecture vision and strategy to support our business objectives. This position focuses on creating a robust data foundation by collaborating with business data stakeholders, data product teams, and cross-functional IT teams to ensure data architecture aligns with business value and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Modernization: Lead initiatives to set and modernize technology for data and analytics, ensuring alignment with business goals and industry best practices.

Data Modeling: Develop and maintain enterprise-wide logical data models to ensure consistency, scalability, and alignment with business needs. This includes high-level data reference models such as conceptual, logical, and physical data models.

Data Solutions Development: Create and evolve data solutions that deliver incremental value, focusing on data products that enhance business operations and decision-making.

Collaboration: Work closely with business stakeholders, data product teams, and IT teams to translate business requirements into technical data solutions. Serve as a bridge between data product teams, solution architects, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment with the enterprise data architecture strategy.

Data Governance: Establish and enforce data governance processes, including data quality, security, compliance, and metadata management, to support regulatory requirements and business objectives.

Innovation and Leadership: Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, providing thought leadership and guidance to optimize the data ecosystem. Lead proof-of-concept initiatives to evaluate innovative data technologies and their impact on the enterprise data landscape.

Standards and Best Practices: Guide data product teams and solution architects by establishing standards and best practices, fostering data reusability, and ensuring consistency in data design and delivery.

Qualifications

Experience: 6-12 years of IT experience, with a focus on data architecture or enterprise data management.

Technical Skills:

Proven experience in setting and modernizing technology for data and analytics.

Strong expertise in developing enterprise-wide logical data models.

Ability to develop incremental value through data products and evolving data solutions.

Extensive expertise in data architecture, best practices, data modeling, governance, and integration standards.

Collaboration Skills: Ability to work effectively across multiple functions and teams to deliver comprehensive data solutions.

Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex data-related challenges.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.

Desired Skills

Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

Familiarity with data governance frameworks and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, or industry-specific regulations).

Hands‑on experience with data modeling tools and methodologies.

Knowledge of AI/ML data architectures and their application in enterprise settings.

Certification in data architecture or related frameworks (e.g., DAMA‑DMBOK).

Experience with real‑time data processing or big data technologies (e.g., Kafka, Spark).

Working Conditions

This position requires on‑site work in Houston.

Ability to work regular hours with occasional or mandatory overtime as needed.

Required to participate in CenterPoint Energy’s Emergency Operation Plan (EOP).
