Role Summary
As the Project Engineer, you will be the lead engineer working with a cross functional team in the detailed design, development, and launch of new consumer products across our multiple categories and brands. You will be responsible for working directly with vendors in Asia, managing multiple projects at the same time and driving innovation through exceptional design within various new product development projects.
In This Role, You Will
Manage the evolution of product design and function throughout the NPD process
Create and modify 3D and 2D CAD drawings to ensure products live up to all specifications and initial design intent
Manage key milestones on multiple projects to ensure timelines are met and hold team members accountable
Coordinate with internal and external industrial design teams in the development of product concepts
Partner with US and China engineering teams on technical aspects of projects
Develop, test, and optimize product design specifications
Partner with global supply chain to develop product samples and quotes
Manage project documentation ranging from bills of materials, product drawings, product specifications, agency testing results, and engineering change orders
Clearly communicate product status effectively and proactively to teammates and management
Pursue intellectual property ownership on new product development efforts
Learn and follow consumer, competitive, and technology trends
What You Bring To The Team
At least 2 years of experience working in multi-disciplinary teams (technical, design, and manufacturing) on the conception, development and launch of consumer products
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience
Strong computer aided design skills, preferably SolidWorks
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Strong written and oral communication skills
Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently
Able to troubleshoot problems using engineering principles
Proficient in MS Office applications: Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Willing to participate in overseas travel 2-3 times per year, especially to China
Additional domestic travel as required
Desire to push self and team to deliver best in class product design on time
Ability to work collaboratively in teams
Strong organizational and time management skills
The hiring range for this position in Itasca, IL is $90,000 - $100,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills and experience, among other factors. An annual incentive may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
