Assistant/Associate Professor of Psychiatry
The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position working at the intersection of generative AI modeling and computational psychiatry. Generative artificial intelligence is reshaping research in computational cognitive science and opens up new opportunities to use deep learning neural networks as artificial model systems to study the mechanistic basis of mental disorders. We seek a researcher who will lead Michigan Psychiatry into this next era of research into generative AI-informed computational psychiatry.
This is a full-time appointment with an expected start in Summer 2026.
This position is part of a cluster of four new AI-related positions in the Departments of Psychology, Linguistics, Philosophy, and Psychiatry, with all four faculty expected to affiliate with the Weinberg Institute for Cognitive Science. New faculty hired will be expected to establish an independent research program that produces impactful science and attracts external funding.
Application requirements & instructions The successful candidate will hold an Ph.D. and/or M.D. in a relevant discipline.
