Job Description Early Career Lighting Designer – Denver, CO – Full‑Time – WSP

Responsibilities

Provide technical support for project designers, including research, concept development, lighting layout, and architectural coordination.

Assist with research, inspections, and analysis of site conditions, equipment, and systems to ensure compliance with applicable standards and codes.

Support the creation of innovative lighting design solutions, develop luminaire and controls specifications, apply daylighting/harvesting, and design spaces that impact building performance, ambiance, safety, and security.

Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation and specifications using electronic systems, artistic renderings, drawings, diagrams, illustrations, spreadsheets, and reports.

Perform lighting calculations, analysis, rendering studies, and use results to inform project decisions.

Complete training on assigned tasks and exercise responsible ethical decision‑making regarding company resources and conduct.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs; occasional travel may be required.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Lighting Design, Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Interior Design, or related field.

0 to 1 year of relevant post‑education experience.

Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.

Familiarity with sustainable lighting strategies, principles, and practices.

Creative skills with an ability to balance lighting aesthetics and client desires with practical concerns.

Basic proficiency with artistic renderings, technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.

Familiarity with discipline‑specific design software (AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Revit, 3DS Max, InDesign).

Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Ability to work schedules conducive to project‑specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with discipline‑specific design software (AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Revit, InDesign, SketchUp).

Recent graduate in an accredited Architectural Engineering or related program.

1–2 semesters of internship experience in Architectural Lighting Design.

Experience using AGI32 or other lighting calculation program, Photoshop, or other rendering software.

Benefits & Compensation Salary range for Colorado: $58,200 – $90,200. Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability, life, retirement savings, paid sick leave, paid vacation, paid parental leave, and paid time off for bereavement, voting, and naturalization proceedings.
