Nature of Work The City of Huntsville Police Department seeks qualified applicants for Secretary II positions. The role provides advanced secretarial support to management and elected officials, ensuring smooth operations in the department.

Position Overview

Provide administrative support, manage correspondence, type reports, grant minutes, transcribe dictation, proofread, research, and maintain manuals.

Work independently using discretion and diplomacy to accomplish objectives, handle problems, coordinate activities and events.

Qualifications and Special Requirements

High school diploma or GED; coursework in shorthand and typing; experience performing secretarial and administrative assistance.

Proficiency in word processing.

Valid driver’s license.

Must successfully complete pre‑employment supplemental application and polygraph.

Must pass pre‑employment fingerprinting background.
