Job Description
The KPFF San Diego Office is accepting applications for a system administrator. We are looking for a motivated IT professional with a desire to be great, a solid system administrator background and a team-oriented mentality. In this role, the successful individual will protect our critical information, systems, and assets, build solutions, troubleshoot, implement new software and hardware, provide staff training, provide helpdesk support, and assist in the development of an overall IT strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with IT leadership on infrastructure improvements, automation initiatives, and cloud integration projects
Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Active Directory and Group Policy
Manage user accounts, permissions, and access control for internal systems
Configure, deploy, and maintain Windows Server environments (on-premises and hybrid)
Oversee and support Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Intune)
Implement and manage security policies, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and conditional access
Monitor system performance, apply patches, and perform regular system audits
Manage backups, disaster recovery procedures, and documentation
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for end-user devices, including laptops, desktops, printers, and applications
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues for users across the organization
Automate repetitive administrative tasks using PowerShell, Intune, or other scripting tools
Develop and maintain automation scripts for user onboarding, system reporting, and policy enforcement
Qualifications
AS Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Demonstrated experience (1-2 years) providing hands-on system administration, end-user support, and IT automation
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy management
Experience with Microsoft 365 Administration (Exchange, Intune, Azure AD, Teams)
Proficiency in Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 management
Experience with PowerShell scripting and process automation
Familiarity with Intune, Azure Automation, or Microsoft Graph API is a plus
Ability to support and troubleshoot Windows 10/11 environments and related hardware
Understanding of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, VPN, firewalls)
Knowledge of backup systems, disaster recovery, and endpoint protection
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with an automation mindset
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Passion for process improvement and technology efficiency
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
Team-oriented with strong customer service focus
Preferred Certifications
Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administrator Associate or Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate.
CompTIA Network+, Security+
Additional Information The salary range for this position is $70,000-$90,000 plus bonus. Salary will depend on education, experience & licensure.
