This position plays a vital role in supporting our customers by installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industry-leading wood fastening machines. Our Field Service Engineers oversee every new machine installation from start to finish—managing setup, calibration, and providing hands‑on training for operators and maintenance teams. In this role, you will apply your expertise in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems daily to deliver exceptional service, ensure optimal machine performance, and set our customers up for long‑term success.

Responsibilities

Install, service, troubleshoot, and maintain Viking equipment using electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical knowledge.

Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to ensure proper assembly and operation.

Test and calibrate equipment to ensure functionality and compliance with specifications.

Perform modifications and repairs; document changes accurately and communicate with engineering teams.

Train customer operators and maintenance staff on equipment operation, safety, and preventive maintenance.

Provide phone support as needed.

Maintain strong customer relationships by addressing issues professionally and efficiently.

Provide detailed and accurate service reports and expense reports in a timely manner.

Ensure all work complies with company safety standards and OSHA regulations.

Qualifications

3+ years of experience in Field Service of industrial equipment, or related mechanical/electrical roles.

High mechanical aptitude, problem‑solving and troubleshooting ability—especially in electrical systems, programmable logic controllers (PLC), and mechanical systems.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical journals, manuals, blueprints, and schematics.

Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics preferred.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

A two‑year degree in Mechatronics or Automated Machines is preferred.

Preferred Software Experience

Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Emerson and B&R Programming Software.

SolidWorks.

Travel This role requires extensive travel (75–100% travel on average). Candidates should expect to drive for extended periods of time and obtain a U.S. passport to travel internationally on occasion.

Pay And Benefits Starting pay for this position is $33.00–$50.00 per hour and is dependent on experience and skills. This is a full‑time non‑exempt position that regularly requires overtime hours as needed.
