The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a PhD or MD/PhD researcher to join the Department of Surgery, Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.
Position Overview The Department of Surgery at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) and the James Comprehensive Cancer Center are recruiting an open-rank faculty member with a basic or translational science research focus in colorectal cancer. Expertise in oncogenesis, treatment resistance, microbial interactions, bioinformatics, drug discovery, or immunotherapy is a plus. Candidates are expected to have an established research program with a successful record of publications and extramural funding. The opportunity will take advantage of an extensive internal collaborative network of researchers in the University and Cancer Center and will benefit from clinical collaborations and access to human specimens.
Duties and Responsibilities
Conceptualizes, plans, designs, implements and conducts research studies; develops and writes grant proposals to seek and obtain extramural funding to support research program; obtains and maintains NIH R01 or equivalent funding;
Writes and publishes research in high quality peer reviewed, scientific journals; attends and makes presentations of research at national and international scientific conferences; develops national and international scholarly reputation;
Instructs and mentors junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents and fellow trainees; participates in department, college and university committees and initiatives.
Requirements
PhD or MD/PhD in an applicable field
Postdoctoral research experience in basic science research
Proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in scientific, peer-reviewed journals preferred
Current, active extramural grant funding (equivalent to NIH R01)
Academic experience a plus
Qualify for academic appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Professor level Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with previous training and experience
