Staff Systems Test Engineer - R10211101
Northrop Grumman invites you to join as a Staff Systems Test Engineer in the Microelectronics Design and Applications (MDA) division. This role, located in Annapolis Junction, MD, supports advanced microelectronics research by ensuring cryogenic system electrical equipment functions flawlessly.
Responsibilities:
Lead the installation, integration, inspection, and testing of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and custom cryogenic system electrical equipment.
Identify, troubleshoot, and remediate hardware failures to support system build‑out and sell‑off, and hand off systems to internal customers.
Effectively communicate project status to technical leadership, functional management, and stakeholders.
Communicate design modifications to cross‑functional teams throughout the design lifecycle, including participation in design reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR).
Develop and write test plans based on customer and system requirements.
Execute tests for individual hardware (custom and COTS) and entire systems to validate functionality.
Compile data and help define changes required in testing methodology, equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, and new testing requirements.
Develop and sustain installation and integration process documentation.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 12 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree in a STEM discipline with 10 years of relevant experience.
Working knowledge of MATLAB, Python, C, or C++.
Working knowledge of standard test equipment: network analyzers, oscilloscopes, waveform generators, synthesizers, digitizers, and/or signal analyzers.
Working knowledge of RF cable networks.Working knowledge of standard electrical design components: filters, couplers, splitters, mixers, amplifiers, etc.
Demonstrated problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
Demonstrated ability to use basic hand tools.
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Active U.S. Government security clearance per customer requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in creating system requirements and writing test procedures.
Background in lab or field testing.
Familiarity with cryogenic test systems: dilution refrigeration, 4 K cryo‑coolers, adiabatic demagnetization refrigeration (ADR), and liquid helium immersion.
Primary Level Salary Range: $155,500.00 - $233,300.00
