Senior Accountant (onsite/hybrid) AgriBank (St. Paul, MN)

seeks a Senior Accountant to provide expert support for accounting related to AgriBank, SunStream, Foundations and Associations.

The Senior Accountant will prepare and post journal entries, ensure compliance with GAAP, FCA and internal accounting standards, resolve account discrepancies, and assist the Manager, Accounting with periodic ICFR documentation and control testing.

Position Overview Support includes preparation of journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, and general accounting duties. Complex duties relative to accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and data entry processing will be performed. As a key member of the Accounting team, you will help AgriBank support the people who feed the world.

Job Functions

Prepares and posts journal entries with supporting documentation.

Ensures compliance with GAAP, FCA and internal accounting standards.

Verifies, determines codes and keys data for invoices.

Performs accounts payable, accounts receivable and fixed assets duties.

Reconciles client cash clearing accounts and maintains Board of Directors master file.

Assists team members on bank balancing system and cash related processes.

Researches and escalates issues to achieve resolution.

Monitors and reconciles assigned accounts on daily, weekly and/or monthly basis.

Identifies, researches and resolves reconciling items.

Prepares and submits journal entries to correct items discovered in reconciling duties.

Participates in training for team members and processes.

Coordinates and monitors close cycle processing for AP and FA.

Communicates process changes and process improvements to stakeholders.

Relationship Management

Acts as liaison between Accounting and Board of Directors.

Responds to client requests via District Self Service tool, email or phone.

Assists clients in resolution of accounting issues.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.

2-4 years of public accounting experience or 5-7 years of related experience.

CPA preferred.

Or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform essential functions.

Knowledge

Advanced knowledge of accounting including general ledger entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets.

Advanced knowledge of cash operations and general ledger practices.

Advanced knowledge of internal controls.

Intermediate knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.

Basic knowledge of FCA reporting regulations and loan accounting.

Skills

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Advanced proficiency in general ledger/accounts payable systems.

Advanced proficiency in reconciliation systems.

Intermediate proficiency in enterprise performance management (EPM).

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
