Job Summary
Assists in the care and tutoring of physically and mentally disabled students.
Position includes a $2,000 new hire bonus paid after the first 30 days of employment and a $2,000 retention bonus payable in June upon the successful completion of the current school year.
Grade 6: New Hire Hourly Rate $21.60 - $24.14 DOE
Work Day 7 hours
Work Year 9 months

Job Qualifications/Requirements
Must meet one of the three qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent with completion or ability to complete the ParaProfessional Assessment within four months of hire; Associate’s degree or higher; or 48 semester hours of higher education.
Understanding of developmental disabilities.
Proper lifting skills to safely lift a minimum of 50 lbs. regularly.
Tutoring skills commensurate with the assigned student level.
Trainable in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI, physical restraint).
Empathy and communication with physically and mentally disabled students.
Strong oral and written communication; dexterity for office and classroom equipment; ability to bend, reach, and observe student activities.
Freedom to move around classroom or playground to observe children naturally and unobtrusively.
Ability to lift, walk, run, stand, and remain outside 30 minutes at 20°F below zero.
If required, completion of ASL I and ASL II or equivalent sign language skills.
