Position Summary:
The Superintendent supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in fabricating, assembling, and installing piping and equipment for hydronic heating, cooling, and condenser water systems. The role oversees multiple projects, determines appropriate material and manpower requirements, and ensures production and efficiency.
Essential Functions:
Lead teams of pipe fitters and helpers, coordinating all project aspects.
Interpret drawings and specifications, relaying information to foremen and crews to produce finished products.
Attend job meetings and coordinate with department managers for manpower, tools, rental equipment, and material deliveries to ensure timely jobsite delivery.
Enforce company policies and safety regulations, maintaining strong leadership skills.
Supervise hydronic piping and equipment connections, guiding foremen to keep safe work practices and productivity rates.
Coordinate with other trades to avoid conflicts and differentiate between contract work and additional work.
Communicate expectations to foremen and crews, ensuring instructions are understood and proper work quality is achieved.
Consult with foremen and managers on hiring, dismissing, and evaluating workers to place the most productive personnel daily.
Study schedules and estimates, evaluate foremen and workers, and review accurate time records.
Follow health and safety standards, comply with building codes, and write reports documenting problems and actions taken.
Qualifications / Education / Work Experience:
Minimum 8 years of field experience.
Minimum 4 years experience in a foreman trade‑level role.
Knowledge of hydronic systems, cooling, and heating.
Understanding of shop math and skills with tools, metals, and machines.
OSHA 30 certification, reliable transportation, and effective communication in English.
Physical Requirements:
This is primarily a shop or field jobsite role. The candidate must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, stand for several hours, bend, stretch, crouch, and respond quickly to sounds and dangerous situations while wearing personal protective gear.
