Leidos currently has an opening for a VPN & DMZ Network Engineer on the Service Management, Integration and Transport (SMIT) Contract located in Oak Harbor, WA. This role supports the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) and involves designing, implementing, and maintaining global network security solutions.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide VPN, DMZ, and firewall network engineering subject matter expertise for the largest intranet in the world.
Collaborate with the Network Operations Center, Network Administrators, and the Network Engineering Team to define and continuously improve network security appliances.
Test, validate, and automate best practice insertion opportunities.
Develop and maintain Network SOPs/TTPs and continuous service improvement initiatives.
Tune system performance and execute network upgrade and maintenance activities.
Support Tier III incident management activities, vendor engagement, and root cause analysis for problem management.
Qualifications
B.S. degree and 4-8 years of relevant experience (degree can be substituted at hiring manager’s discretion).
U.S. citizen with an active DoD Secret security clearance.
Active DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II certification (e.g., CCNP Security, CISSP, CASP+).
Active associate-level network vendor certification (Cisco, Juniper, F5 Networks).
Willingness to work off‑hours and participate in on‑call rotation for incident management.
Tier III network subject matter expert and highly technical maintenance of firewalls, VPNs, and DMZ appliances.
Extensive experience troubleshooting routing, switching, MPLS, VPN, BGP, OSPF, IS‑IS, STP, VLAN, LLDP, VoIP, multicast, and emerging network technologies.
Strong knowledge of IP subnet addressing and defense‑in‑depth principles.
Ansible, Python, and IaC network automation experience.

Pay Range Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00. This range is a general guideline and not a guarantee of compensation.
