Accounting Analyst I Contract Duration:

Contract through October 19, 2026 (High potential for extension)

Salt Lake City, UT

Position Summary:

Client is seeking an Accounting Analyst I to join our Finance team in Salt Lake City. This position will support the company’s financial reporting and compliance functions through the preparation and analysis of financial data, journal entries, reconciliations, and regulatory reporting. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP and FERC regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations to support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.

Generate financial and regulatory reports, including income statements and balance sheet analysis, aligned with US GAAP and/or FERC guidelines.

Assist with regulatory filings, audit preparation, and responses to audit and regulatory inquiries.

Ensure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and relevant accounting standards.

Conduct accounting research and analyze technical accounting issues.

Support internal and external audits through preparation of schedules and timely response to auditor inquiries.

Contribute to regulatory proceedings by preparing supporting documentation and responses.

Participate in special projects, system upgrades, and continuous improvement efforts.

Maintain high standards of confidentiality, integrity, and compliance in all accounting practices.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

CPA designation or equivalent certification is preferred.

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance.

Background in public accounting, technical accounting, or regulated utilities is a plus.

Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle Cloud, or HFM.

Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving capabilities.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines, with flexibility to work overtime during peak periods.

Responsible for supporting accurate accounting records and regulatory filings.

Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Drive improvements in financial processes and contribute to system enhancements within the Finance department.
