Position Overview
The Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Wilkes University invites applications for a Faculty of Practice position specializing in Additive Manufacturing. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track position beginning in Fall 2026 pending funding availability. We seek an experienced professional with a strong background in advanced manufacturing processes, including 3D printing, rapid prototyping, and design for additive manufacturing (DfAM), who is passionate about undergraduate and graduate engineering education. The anticipated start date is August 2026 pending funding availability.
Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in Additive Manufacturing, Solid Mechanics, CAD/CAM, and related areas
Supervise student projects and senior capstones involving advanced manufacturing techniques
Assist in the development and integration of hands-on laboratory modules and applied learning experiences
Collaborate with industry partners to enhance experiential learning and workforce readiness
Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement initiatives
Participate in service activities within the department and college as appropriate
Qualifications
A Master or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.
Demonstrated expertise in additive manufacturing technologies and design software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoDesk Fusion 360, EOS, Markforged, or similar platforms).
Strong commitment to teaching, mentoring, and the integration of practical, hands-on learning in the classroom.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
