Experienced DevSecOps / Cyber / Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)
to join the F/A-18 Mission Systems Software DevSecOps team located in
Daytona Beach, FL . This position focuses on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.
We are looking for a highly skilled
Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)
with a strong focus on program security to support our cloud-based embedded software development program. In this role, you will ensure the security, reliability, and compliance of our cloud infrastructure and embedded software delivery pipelines. You will collaborate closely with development, security, and operations teams to embed security best practices into the software lifecycle and maintain a secure, resilient production environment. This team offers a collaborative mentoring environment where you have the opportunity to learn from or lead others.
This position will require frequent business travels (20% - 30%) to St. Louis, MO for the first 3 months of employment
Position responsibilities:
Implement and maintain security controls and monitoring for cloud infrastructure supporting embedded software development
Collaborate with software and security teams to integrate security into CI/CD pipelines and development workflows
Design and enforce secure deployment practices for cloud-based embedded software systems
Monitor and respond to security incidents, vulnerabilities, and compliance issues in production environments
Automate security testing, vulnerability scanning, and compliance checks within the development lifecycle
Conduct root cause analysis of security incidents and implement preventive measures
Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) with embedded security policies
Participate in threat modeling and risk assessments for cloud and embedded software components
Support audit and compliance activities related to program security standards
Stay current with emerging security threats, cloud security best practices, and embedded software vulnerabilities
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements This position requires the ability to obtain a
Secret U.S. Security Clearance
for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
Proven experience as an SRE, DevOps Engineer, or Security Engineer with a focus on cloud security
Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their security features
Experience with embedded software development environments and secure software delivery
Familiarity with security tools such as vulnerability scanners, SIEM, and compliance frameworks
Experience with container security and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, Docker)
Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, Ansible) with security automation
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
Proficiency in scripting/programming languages such as Python, Go, or Bash
Experience in aerospace, defense, or embedded systems industries
Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, AWS Security Specialty, or equivalent
Familiarity with security standards relevant to embedded systems (e.g., DO-178C, ISO 27001)
Experience with threat modeling and secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC)
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex security concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
