Under general direction of the Information Technology (IT) Manager II, the incumbent serves as the Chief of the Software License & Configuration Mgmt. Office (SLCM). This unit comprises IT professionals ranging from IT Associate to IT Specialists who manage IT Software Assets, patching, upgrading OS, device imaging, and IT Service Management System Support. The incumbent oversees complex IT functions, including systems analysis, design, administration, integration, testing, maintenance, and operations. Full management responsibility for standards, processes, procedures, and procurement of software and related technologies. Full management responsibility for day?to?day operations. Working Conditions

This position is eligible for telework. Telework is at the discretion of the Department. Employees are expected to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed. Business travel may be required and reimbursement considers an employees designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate. Minimum Requirements Two years of experience as an Information Technology Supervisor I; or One year of experience as an Information Technology Supervisor II; or Six years of information technology experience performing a variety of progressively responsible technical, analytical, or supervisory tasks in support of computer systems or services in one or more of the major six domains or a closely related or emerging IT field.

At least two years of experience shall include performance of highly specialized work in a lead capacity on highly complex or specialized information technology systems or services, or in a progressively responsible supervisory capacity over highly complex or specialized information technology systems or services. A masters or doctorate degree may substitute for four years of required general IT experience. A bachelors degree may substitute for three years. An associates degree may substitute for one year. When using education to meet minimum qualifications, education must include 15 semester units of IT or closely related coursework. Desirable Qualifications Experience leading large, diverse IT teams in a government environment. Skilled communicator able to navigate political and sensitive situations. Proven success managing end?to?end IT projects with multiple stakeholders. Strong customer service mindset with ability to manage competing priorities. Ability to align operations and projects with organizational goals and respond to shifting needs. Experience briefing executive leadership and agency stakeholders. Ensure compliance with laws, policies, procedures; plan and organize work; evaluate workload and resources. Knowledge and experience using IT Service Management and Gen AI tools.
