Claims Specialist II, Workers Compensation - West Region
Liberty Mutual is seeking a Workers Compensation Claims Specialist for the West Region. Candidates will work within a Claims Team, using the latest technology to review, analyze, and process claims that are routinely characterized as moderately complex to complex within assigned authority limits. Responsibilities include investigating claims, determining liability and compensability, negotiating settlements, managing an inventory of claims, and providing technical direction to team members. Pay Range
Base pay range: $60,000.00/yr - $113,000.00/yr Responsibilities
Plans and conducts investigations of claims, including interviewing insureds, witnesses and claimants, collecting and evaluating documentation and securing evidence to confirm coverage and determine liability, compensability and damages. Determines need for, and engages independent adjusters, cause and origin experts and independent medical examiners. Refers to claim to subrogation group or Special Investigations Unit as appropriate. Assesses policy coverage for submitted claims, notifies the insured of any issues, determines and establishes reserve requirements and adjusts reserves during claim processing. Assesses actual damages, conducts negotiations within assigned authority limits to settle claims. Coordinates litigation activities to ensure timely, cost-effective resolution; attends trials as company representative. Acts as senior technical professional, assisting team members with escalated issues. Mentors and trains new team members. Participates in Quality Review process. Participates in conducting Suit Committees, Roundtables, Arbitrations, Mediations, field investigations; may assist in closed file reviews. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications
BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience. Minimum of 2 years experience in claims adjustment, general insurance or formal claims training. Minimum 2 years of experience in Workers’ Compensation claims handling lost time and litigated claims; direct claims handling experience from investigation through resolution is required. Required to obtain and maintain all applicable licenses. Continuing education courses leading to industry certifications preferred (e.g., AEI, IIA, CPCU). Knowledge of claims investigation techniques, medical terminology and legal aspects of claims. About Us
