Job Description

Phlebotomist I is responsible for accurate collection and handling of patient laboratory specimens for diagnostic testing according to established best practice in a manner that enhances patient and caregiver engagement.

Essential Functions

• Collect patient specimens for diagnostic testing.
• Perform specimen collection using venipuncture, capillary puncture, PIVO, and throat swab collections across outpatient, emergency, and inpatient settings.
• Adhere to personal protective equipment requirements.
• Communicate procedures and instructions with patients and family members with empathy.
• Support growth and training of new staff and participate in special projects.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and manage stressful situations professionally.
• Participate in on-call shifts and holiday rotations as needed.

• Hours: Thur - Sun 2100-0700
• Full-time

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Six months of phlebotomy experience or national certification approved by supervisor.
• BLS Certification required.

Physical Requirements

• Manual dexterity and ability to manipulate delicate equipment.
• Lift and carry supplies up to heavy items.
• Stand in a stationary position for extended periods.
