Administrative Assistant – Office of Financial Review and Compliance, Hartford, CT – Salary: $63,777–$82,530/year – Open to the Public – Close Date: 10/23/2025.

The State of Connecticut, Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) is accepting applications for the Administrative Assistant in the Office of Financial Review and Compliance in Hartford, CT.

Position Highlights

  • Full time, 40 hours per week.
  • Monday through Friday schedule.
  • First shift hours.
  • Location: 450 Columbus Blvd, Hartford, CT 06103.
  • Hybrid opportunity, combination of in‑office and telework, in accordance with the Telework Policy.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex office administrative duties, including typing, filing, correspondence, report writing, and processing.
  • Act on behalf of the manager by interpreting policies, troubleshooting, and making decisions within prescribed limits.
  • Coordinate and prepare meetings, write minutes, and arrange travel and expense accounts.
  • Authorise purchases and payments within limits, develop procedures, assist in hiring and training office staff, and supervise support staff when required.

Minimum Qualifications – General Experience

Four (4) years of experience above the routine clerk level in office support or secretarial work.

Minimum Qualifications – Special Experience

One (1) year of the General Experience must have been as a Secretary II or its equivalent.

Minimum Qualifications – Substitutions Allowed

College training in the secretarial sciences may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of 15 semester hours equalling one‑half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of two (2) years.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with office expenditure and billing procedures.
  • Experience with Excel, including logging data, creating charts and tables, and using pivot tables.
  • Experience communicating on the phone and in writing with stakeholders.
  • Experience creating surveys using online survey tools.
  • Experience using Microsoft 365, including SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and Outlook.
