Overview Quality Control Specialist, Gas Operations

Role and Scope of Position: Supports the implementation of the Eversource Quality Control program as it relates to construction, maintenance, meter service, leak survey, corrosion, damage prevention, LNG and I&R activities at Eversource Gas. Ensures work and activities are performed in accordance with all federal, state, and company construction standards and procedures and all safety rules and standards established by the Company and required by law. The QC Specialist has the authority to direct and stop work to ensure compliance with all requirements and acts as an authorized company representative on job sites with decision-making authority within their area of responsibility.

Responsibilities

Ensure safe work practices are employed in accordance with the Company’s Health and Safety Handbook and Contractor Safety Manual.

Ensure all work activities are performed in accordance with Gas Distribution construction standards and operating procedures; verify work is performed by qualified personnel.

Verify that work packages are in order with appropriate work procedures, mark out ticket, and mapping information.

Monitor resources associated with the Company’s re-dig program.

Support onboarding of contractor crews and verify that all aspects of the Company’s Operator Qualification Plan are followed.

Identify non-compliant conditions and situations; make recommendations for corrective action.

Be responsible for accurate documentation of inspection results and for the Company’s gas quality control programs.

Contribute to the annual gas inspection plan, including random inspections and re-dig program activities.

Support ERP roles and assist Gas or Electric during ERP or Work Continuation events as required.

Qualifications

Technical Knowledge/Skills:

Requires knowledge of gas construction and maintenance standards, work practices and procedures, and safety requirements. Requires knowledge assessments and audits. Requires knowledge of gas business information and office automation. Requires strong technical writing and oral communication skills. Proficient with MS Office; able to adapt to other PC-based software tools.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, related discipline or equivalent experience.

Experience:

Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in gas distribution, utility, or related technical field preferred.

Licenses & Certifications:

Will be expected to become Eversource Operator Qualified.

Working Conditions

This position is categorized as safety-sensitive for the purpose of drug testing. Pre-assignment drug test required if currently in a non-safety sensitive position. Random drug testing applies; a positive result may lead to disciplinary action.

Work is performed in an office environment with time in the field to conduct audits, training, and resolve complex problems.

Physical requirements include sitting, speaking, hearing, occasional walking, using hands to operate tools, and reaching. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds; close vision and focus required.

Work environment may include exposure to explosive gas, high-noise levels, traffic, and construction site hazards. Eligible for reasonable accommodations.

Must be available for emergency restoration assignments and travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.

Mental Aspects

Work includes analyzing, planning, organizing, evaluating and documenting. Often requires handling multiple simultaneous activities, meeting deadlines, and managing significant business commitments and results.

Compensation and Benefits Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. Salary is commensurate with experience. This position is eligible for a potential incentive. The annual salary range for this position is $92,820.00-$103,130.00.

Emergency Response: Responding to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs is part of every employee’s role. An Emergency Restoration assignment may be required outside of normal responsibilities, hours, and location.
