Montgomery County Recreation is a nationally recognized and award-winning agency committed to providing high-quality, diverse, and accessible programs, services, and facilities that enhance the quality of life for all ages, cultures, and abilities. The department manages 39 facilities , including recreation centers, senior centers, and indoor and outdoor aquatic facilities, and provides thousands of programs such as out-of-school activities, aquatics, classes, youth and adult sports programs and leagues, senior programs, and therapeutic recreation.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Program Coordinator or Assistant Program Director

You Will

Greet and assist participants and visitors with a professional, friendly, and welcoming attitude. Provide exceptional customer service by promptly looking up and sharing accurate information. Set up and break down equipment . Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment and facility. Monitor activities and participant engagement to ensure a clean, safe , and supportive environment. P roblem-solv e and troubleshoot during programs and activities or within a facility and respond to emergencies. Initiate cleaning and organizing of facility or program to ensure safety and readiness for use. Be knowledgeable of and enforc e program and facility rules and requirements .

As a Program Coordinator or Assistant Program Director , you may:

Serve as a Senior Group Leader, Activity Coordinator, Nutrition Coordinator, G ymnasium or Field Coordinator , Provide leadership and supervision in school-based or recreation facility-based programs or activities , including, but not limited to sports, out-of-school time programs, special events , etc. Supervise, p lan , lead, coordinate , or evaluate a recreation activity. Work collaboratively with partner s to deliver services or programs such as food and nutrition or transportation. Collect and process registrations and payments while safeguarding financial and personal information. Assist with administrative processes such as answering phones and returning calls, completing reports, maintaining records, scheduling, ordering, checking in participants, contractors, guests, etc. Judg e or officiat e sports, programs, activities, and events.

To be a successful Program Coordinator or Assistant Program Director

You MUST

Be able to follow and give directions and answer inquiries professionally and with a welcoming attitude. Work as part of a team, maintain relationships, attend required training, and participate in staff meetings . Exercise tact , judgment , and maturity to maintain order , ensure appropriate behavior , and maintain safety.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: Fifteen hundred hours ( 1 5 00 ) of relevant work experience as a leader or instructor in one or more recreation activities. Education: Completion of two years in college. Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
